Robert Scoble interviewed Matt Mullenweg at Big Omaha in May of 2010. The recorded video of the interview just went up (also embedded below), and we were able to pull a couple of gems. The quote from the headline came from this back and forth:

Scoble: Some of the UI that’s changing about blogs is these toolbars that I’m seeing. I just put one on my blog that has Twitter and Google Buzz and Facebook on the bottom on my blog. What’s your opinion on those?

Pre-bearded Mullenweg: I think they’re kind of like the mullet of websites. [laughter] I don’t like them. [laughter]

Scoble: I’m keeping mine anyway.

Pre-bearded Mullenweg: I understand.

The conversation then turned to social website integration into websites, where Mullenweg explained “the thin line” walked over at WordPress.com, where instead of adding Facebook “Like” and Digg buttons when users ask for them, they instead ask “Will people be asking for this in three to five years?”. He said they then typically wait for the “fad” to pass, pointing out that users don’t ask for Digg buttons any more.

Regarding traffic from social sources, Mullenweg commented that more WordPress.com users send their posts to Twitter over Facebook, and that most incoming traffic to WordPress.com comes from Twitter as well.

The interview is only about thirty minutes long, and a number of the questions came from Twitter and Google Buzz, through Scoble’s iPad. What questions would you ask in an interview with Matt Mullenweg?

Templatic is a WordPress theme shop run by Bhavesh Radadiya, They have well over 50 WordPress themes, a growing community, and as of January 1, 2011, all of their themes are licensed under the GPL. According to Radadiya, Templatic made the move because it fit their business strategy and their plans for the year ahead.

The announcement came in their first 2011 blog post, where they described their plans for the year. In the post, Radadiya said:

When we were PremiumThemes.net, we announced going GPL and switched back in a while which is kind of long and silly story but we as a business now realize though late, this is the right decision to take and the beginning of a new year is a perfect time.

So, here onwards, all the templatic WordPress themes are licensed under the GNU general public license. We are shortly making necessary changes in our site in order to align with this license.

WordPress is licensed under the GNU general public license, a software license that describes how the code can be used by the end user. Some commercial WordPress shops choose not to distribute their work under the GPL, which has caused a number of divides in the community the past couple of years. It’s great to see this move happen because it’s great for the end user. It’s also great because we get to cover Templatic news now, since we choose to only cover GPL compatible theme and plugin shops.

Stargate universe was canceled by the SyFy network.

The network having also canceled caprica earlier this year, does not seem to care much for the franshise that made them big in the first place.

A pity as it was gearing up to be a good show, and also one of the last sci fi shows on TV.

As you can see last post before this one was during the xxx days. Since then been to Japan again…and back in good old homestead now.  More Posts will be done on this blog here…and I am working on a New theme as well. No name yet. Truth be told, this might be the first year that I ever have had anything to do with Xmas. Don’t take me wrong….the sentiments is a very good one. Especially for the economy. sorry unfair.

As it goes it is a bit of a lie, celebrating a festival of light. All hail the solictice. Or why else would there be ligths in that tree ?
